Almost all our students have introduced other students to us. At Avatar Languages we understand the importance of quality within our school and we recognize that our teachers need to be supported in their efforts to deliver the highest quality teaching.

What is Quality?

Our lessons are high quality because we help each student to achieve their language learning goals. This means that we listen to our students so that we know what they want to achieve. The Avatar Languages approach requires flexibility and individualized attention.

Our lessons are not just effective, but enjoyable and rewarding too. We are constantly innovating and we strive to create new, yet simple solutions to our students’ language learning needs.

Quality through Teacher Training

At Avatar Languages we invest in our teachers to ensure that they have the knowledge and tools to deliver the highest quality lessons. We train our teachers to listen, inspire and innovate in their classes. Our approach is to support our teachers in the same way we want our teachers to support students. So we strive to listen to them, to inspire them and to constantly invest in their professional development.

Teachers’ Community

We support our teachers to learn together and share ideas with each other. The Avatar Languages Teachers’ Community provides a space for our teachers to talk about new ideas and to help one another with any questions they have. The community is based on a communicative approach where everyone listens and everyone is heard.

Each student has his/her own specific needs and we recognize that each teacher will face different challenges in their teaching. Our community of practice offers a flexible way to support each teacher as an individual.

Training Modules

Our teacher training modules focus on their needs in the following areas

    Student Centered Teaching: how to ensure that the student’s needs are the focal point of each lesson
    Online Tools for Teaching: how to most effectively use online learning tools such as whiteboards, Google Docs and 3D virtual worlds.
    Exciting Task Based Learning: how to create classes that capture the interest of each student
    Languages for Business or Medicine: how to tailor classes to particular fields and professions

Specialist Expertise

When looking for expertise to guide us through the development of the teacher community our first choice was The Consultants-E. We chose them because of their expertise in the exact field of training language educators in teaching with technology.

The Consultants-E is a language education consultancy based in Barcelona, Spain. They have won several awards such as the British Council ELT Innovation award and their principal staff have published books on How to Teach English with Technology and the Internet in the Language Classroom.
